of Savannah Lakes Village
Savannah
Lakes Village was initially developed by Cooper Communities and
opened for property sales in April of 1989. Cooper Communities is a
private, family-owned company, in business since 1954. Cooper has
several other villages in South Carolina, Arkansas, Tennessee, West
Virginia and Missouri. For over five decades, Cooper has been
prosperous despite some financially disastrous years in the resort
development industry.

Savannah
Lakes Village is a community that we like to call “Close by but
Worlds Away”. Because of its location, character and laid-back
lifestyle, it seems that you are worlds away from the hustle and
bustle of city living when you are here. However, in reality, it is
only a short drive to major metropolitan areas in both South Carolina
and Georgia.
Savannah
Lakes Village is in the heart of the 80,000-acre Sumter National
Forest. The village is surrounded by three state parks in South
Carolina and one state park across the bridge in Georgia. Savannah
Lakes Village was carefully planned to incorporate the natural beauty
of the area. The village features approximately 4900 wooded, lake
front and golf front home sites that range in size from 1/3 acre to
just over 1 acre.
The “Lake” of Savannah Lakes
Village is Lake Thurmond, which separates Georgia and South Carolina.
Lake Thurmond covers more than 70,000 acres, is 64 miles long, has
depths up to 120 feet and has 1,200 miles of shoreline. Thurmond is
the largest man-made lake east of the Mississippi. Field &
Stream magazine ranks Lake Thurmond as one of the best bass lakes
in the country – in recent years it has become host to a Bass
Masters Elite Series Tournament.
Savannah
Lakes Village has ideal weather year round. This is a true four
season climate, with average temperatures for January and February in
the 50’s and July and August averaging in the 80’s.

Savannah
Lakes Village offers two magnificent 18-hole golf courses, Tara and
Monticello. Each course has a Pro Shop, putting green, and practice
area. Additionally there is a Club House at each course with a
Lounge and Restaurant.
Savannah
Lakes Village also has a Health and Fitness Center which includes a
tennis complex, 25 meter indoor pool, weight and exercise room, four
lane bowling alley, meeting rooms and a 500 seat multipurpose/dining
room.
All
these amenities are inclusive to property purchasers with no
initiation fees.

Where
is Savannah Lakes Village?
Contrary
to popular opinion, we are not located in Savannah, GA –
although you can get there from here within a few hours. Savannah
Lakes Village is located in the Western Piedmont of South Carolina,
approximately 5 miles from McCormick SC.
Surrounding
Communities
McCormick,
SC and Lincolnton, GA (just across the state line) have Grocery
Stores, Hardware Stores, Gas Stations and Restaurants. Both are handy
for your local shopping needs.
The
larger communities of Abbeville, SC, Greenwood, SC and Augusta, GA
have an abundance of entertainment, dining, and shopping venues to
meet your particular needs. Each of these communities is within an
hour drive of Savannah Lakes Village.
